Relaunching Alice-Tilly

It's time to have a sit down and a good old chat about how I've been feeling lately. I think through the process of Blogmas I started to look at my blog and realised I'm not particularly happy with the content I'm creating right now. I'm not happy with the type of stuff I'm writing, my photography, the look of my blog... anything really. I guess I feel like I've sort of I don't know grown out of it if that makes sense. Now don't take this post that I'm quitting blogging because I most definitely am not and can't even imagine it! I am however going to give myself a break.

I'm going to be taking a blogging break over the New Year ready to start afresh with new and exciting content that I'm 100% happy with in 2017. I'm going to completely rebrand Alice-Tilly. The whole look of my website... The whole works basically. I'm just really ready for a new start! I'm already excited and I feel completely invested in all the changes I'm going to be making.

I'm aiming to be back and blogging with the big relaunch on Saturday 7th January. However I know that not everything always got to plan so I also have the provisional date of Tuesday 10th January if I need a bit more time to perfect everything.

I really hope you're as excited as I am about the relaunch for the New Year. I promise you it's going to be great. I'm determined to make 2017 mine and my blogs year! All of my original content will be here to stay however through 2017 I'm going to be updating previous content with new photos etc.

So this was a little update post with everything that is going to be going on. If you want to keep up to date with the definite relaunch date make sure you're following me on Twitter @_alicetilly and Instagram @alice_tilly. I'll be announcing on there very soon!

A New Venture For 2017 #23

So I'm actually really excited to post this post! If you haven't gathered from the title I'll be starting a new sort of venture in 2017. I spend a lot of time drawing and I have done ever since I was little. It's something that I truly love. Over the last few months I've really been trying to get better at illustrations and up my skills. I'm finally happy with where I'm at and all the programmes I have to do my illustrations. I previously asked on Twitter if people would like me to open a shop and everyone was really encouraging. So thank you to you guys I'm making this happen.

In the start of 2017 I'm going to start at Etsy shop and I'll be selling all previous illustrations that I've done. I've got a few art prints and illustrations of celebs etc. I'm also going to be offering custom illustrations for whatever any would like. As well I'll be offering to do blog headers and logos for all my fellow lovely bloggers. I may venture out to notebooks, stickers etc. if everything goes well mid-2017.

I'm hoping Alice-Tilly Illustrations will become a thing and I won't be a flop! By no means will this be taking over blogging however. I'm making sure I have plenty of time to run my blog, illustration business and still run my campaigns. I know.... 2017 is going to be an incredibly busy year for me.

The illustrations above are some previous ones that I've drawn. If you are interested in commissioning me then feel free to drop me an email at: As well a that I'm happy to answer any queries/questions beforehand.

Family At Christmas With Boohoo #22

Boohoo have been kind enough to gift my whole family and me with a Christmas jumper. We'll definitely all be sporting these on Christmas day! It's so important to spend Christmas with your family and love ones. Whether it be your mum or dad, siblings, friends, other half... Anyone who you love. What always intrigues me is other families Christmas traditions as I'm so used to my own.

I thought I'd give an idea of what a typical Christmas day is for my family. I spend Christmas with my Mum, Dad and my two brothers Max & Joe. When we wake up we always have a sack of presents. We always take them into my Mum & Dad's room and open them on their bed in our PJ's together. Then we go downstairs where the presents are always laid out on the floor to open. I'm definitely always the slowest haha! We spend most of Christmas relaxing and chilling. We'll usually try out or build any new things that we have. I tend to help my Mum with Christmas dinner. We have Christmas dinner with my Grandma & Grandad as well. We always go to my Nan's in the evening to spend time with one side of the family. I always love going it's so nice to get to spend time with people I love more than anything.

I always say I honestly and really mean that I don't care about the presents. As long as I've got all the people I love and care about around me then I can't ask for anything more!

I would love to know in the comments any family traditions that you have at Christmas or who you're spending Christmas with this year. I really hope you enjoyed this post! Thank you to Boohoo for making this happen! If you want to visit Boohoo check the link below.

Christmas Nails 2016 #21

So I've been waiting so long to do my Christmas nails this year! I have horrible tiny short nails so any occasion to dress my nails up I take. I thought it would be great to share what I'm doing with my nails this year. I haven't been putting on fake nails and doing them for very long so I'm not claiming to be an expert but I'll let you know all the products that I used below and what I thought of them.

Products I used:
- Elegant Touch Express Nails in Polished Red
- Tanya Burr Cosmetics Nail Polish in Sleigh Bells
- Tanya Burr Cosmetics Nail Polish in Glitters And Gold

I really didn't use all that many products and I thought they came out really well! Elegant Touch nails are my go-to nails. I always find them super reliable and easy to do. Also they do express nails which is what I used this time. It means absolutely no glue at all! The nails have a sticky back so you just have to hold them down for 30 seconds. It's so great because it literally takes no time at all. I used two Tanya Burr Cosmetic nail polishes over the top of my nails and it came out super well! I'm in love with these glitter nail polishes.

I really hope you enjoyed this post! I'd love to see some pictures of your festive or Christmas nails. Make sure to tag me on twitter @_alicetilly or on instagram @alice_tilly. I'm going to making more of an effort to do my nails more often from now on and in 2017. Let me know if you would like me to do more posts like or if you would like me to try some nail art.

#JustBeingMeCampaign *UPDATE* #20

So back at the start of November I announced the #JustBeingMeCampaign. I started this campaign with absolutely no expectations... I mean I'v never done anything like this before. I'm so unbelievably grateful for the response for the campaign. So many people have expressed interest and I'm so excited for you all to get involved.

I once said I will not live my life staying quiet I will use the voice I've been given to implement change for the better; to stand up for what I believe in. You guys are helping me make this come true!

Just in case you missed what the campaign is about... The #JustBeingMeCampaign is basically as it sounds. It's about celebrating you... just being you. It's so simple yet not done enough. I see so many people feel so down and have such low self-esteem that I want to encourage everyone to find something positive that makes you... well you and celebrate it.

I wanted to do a quick **UPDATE** for you all regarding the campaign. Please start getting your emails in as soon as you can! I know the deadline for entries will be 1st February but I'm starting work now so it would be great if you could get them in ASAP. As I said with all the entries I'm going to be creating a publication magazine... I will send everyone involved a free copy and any others will be available to purchase on my Easy store! Let me know if you think this is a good idea?!

If you want to but don't know how to get involved check all the info out below:

What you need to do to get involved with #JustBeingMeCampaign:
- All you need to do is choose ONE WORD that describes yourself that you want to embrace. For example, weird, funny etc.
- Then a short paragraph describing WHY YOU LOVE THAT ABOUT YOURSELF! It only needs to be a couple of sentences long or if you want to write something longer then feel free!
- Find ONE IMAGE of yourself that when you look at it you feel absolutely fabulous.

Then EMAIL all the information over to me at: Please include NameAge (if you want) and Blog URL (if you have one) in the email!

I want you to get involved and sread the word to all your friends, family... Anyone you can think! Let's celebrate us because we all deserve it! Make sure to share this link and tweet along with the campaign on twitter using the #JustBeingMeCampaign hashtag.

DIY 5 Minute Wrapping Paper #19

This was very nearly a DIY fail post I'm not going to lie. However I persevered and this is what happened. Now if you're the same as me you'll be stressfully trying to wrap everyone's presents only a few days before Christmas... I know right! Not only that you'll be so disorganised that you'll have no wrapping paper. If you are in this situation I'll tell you what I did... I got myself on trusty Pinterest for some inspiration. I gave it a good go it didn't quite turn out as amazing as the pictures but come on who really looks at the wrapping paper before they rip it open?!?!

What you need:
- A roll of brown or white paper
- Acrylic or poster paint
- A black sharpie
- A piece of card

What you need to do first is cut the size of white or brown paper to the present that you have. For the first design the first things I did was roughly drew a Christmas tree out onto a piece of card. I used this as a template to stamp Christmas trees onto the wrapping paper. I painted the template and pressed it down for a few seconds. They didn't really come out that well so I had to improvise and draw round them with a black sharpie. I also dotted around some gold paint around the trees to look like baubles. All in all if you and more time you could do it 1000% better than I did but you get the concept.

For the second design I again cut out the wrapping paper to size. I used a black sharpie to draw a random curly line for me to be able to paint some festive Christmas lights on. I marked out where all the lights would go with a sharpie. I literally used my fingertips to pain the lights... It was like being a toddler again haha. All in all this one actually didn't turn out too bad again with more time you could do this 1000% better than me.

I really hope you enjoyed this post! I'd go as far to say I won't be doing anymore DIY posts till way after Christmas again haha. If you decide to create your own wrapping paper please tag me int he picture on Twitter or Instagram I'd love to see!

I've been loving the beauty side of my blog very recently, I only started wearing make-up this year as for some reason I've grown out of the allergy I used to have. BBC Good Food Show Winter 2016 #16

I recently visited the BBC Good Food Show on the 26th and 27th November. I'd never been before and I was lucky enough to be granted a press pass for my first year. I wasn't sure what to expect from the event but I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I absolutely love baking and cooking and there was definitely plenty there to keep me entertained. There were a big variety of food stalls as well. I always think sometimes at big exhibitions like these they can be a bit all same same this one definitely wasn't though. Everyone was very polite and it was very nice to see people talk with so much passion about the products they sell or the food they make.

The first things I did when I got there on the Saturday was head to by one of Mary Berry's recipe books. If you don't know I'm obsessed with the Great British Bake Off and I absolutely love Mary Berry. She was one person I definitely wanted to meet in my life. Luckily for me I managed to get in the queue to her book signing. I was super excited and the hour long wait was totally worth it. She was just as lovely as I had imagined and I was super happy afterwards. They also allowed photos to be taken which I thought was great as well. I like to have the photo memories to look back on.

It was difficult but I had to pick out some of my favourite stalls and brands from the Good Food Show. I'm absolutely in love with these 'Get Fruity' oat bars. I've been reaching for one most mornings for breakfast. I was kindly given a load of boxes to try and I've eaten most of them and purchased more since then. My favourites are the 'Marvellous Mango' and the 'Scrumptious Strawberry' bars. What's great about these is they're made from only natural fruits, oats and coconut oil... Plus they're gluten free! I will have a full review going up on my blog soon so watch this space. You can visit there website HERE.

I'm not actually all that into cake or chocolate much to most people's surprise. I actually could not resist these though. How good do they look?! These were made by a company called 'Flower & White' they had an impressive range of cakes and meringues. I made sure I write everything down ready to google them when I got home! Turns out they have a shop as well were you can buy all of their sweet treats. So if you are a lover of all cakes, meringues and muffins make sure to check out their shop HERE.

I thought these were really intriguing when I heard it was lemonade but not fizzy... I really hate fizzy drinks. I stopped drinking them years ago and now I can't stand them. I thought why not give this a go! I tried 'The Original' and 'The Orange' still lemonade. You don't understand how nice it is until you try it! Personally I think the lemon taste is obviously stronger in these than actual fizzy lemonade but I prefer that completely! If you don't like fizzy drinks definitely give these a try. Unfortunately they don't have an online store. However you can check the list of stockists HERE. There may be one near you!

Although I always try to steer myself away from chocolate, sweets, cake etc. Fudge is the one exception it's the only sweet thing I really really like. I always have ever since I was a child. So when I found this stall and was presented with flavours of fudge I'd never tried I knew I had to share this company with all of you. 'The Ochil Fudge Pantry' create these amazing home-made pieces of fudge for only £2 each! I'm definitely going to be ordering some soon. i'm most excited to try the White Chocolate and the Chocolate Orange fudge. If you'd like to purchase any of their products or get more info you can visit their website HERE.

Overall I had an amazing time and I'd definitely go again! I'll be making sure I go to the summer food show next year. I'm sure it'll be here before we know it. Next time I'd like to go to the theatre shows as I didn't get chance to go this year. If you have a love for food and have never been I 10/10 recommend you go! If you want more information on the BBC Good Food Show or the upcoming shows check out the website HERE.

Let me know if you went to the Good Food Show and what your favourite parts of the show were in the comments. I hope you enjoyed reading this post!

The Perfect Festive Hot Chocolate #15

I can't get through the cold months without a hot chocolate! Especially around the festive season. I'm not really a tea or coffee drinker so hot chocolate is perfect for me. It takes all of a couple of minutes to make and it looks like you've spent ages doing it! If you're having friends round for a movie night this is perfect. It looks like you've made tonnes of effort but really it hasn't taken much at all. Alternatively I also think these would be perfect to make the family on Christmas Eve or on Christmas Day.

The products that I used for this hot chocolate:
- 1 Mug Full of Semi-Skimmed Milk
- Tesco's Christmas Sprinkles
- Tesco's Golden Confetti
- Frozen Dazzling Sprinkles
- Aero Instant Chocolate Drink
- Real Dairy Spray Cream

These are all the products that I used to make a simple and quick festive hot chocolate. Obviously you don't have to use the exact products I used. These were just the ones that I had to hand in my kitchen. If you have more time than I did you could actually make the hot chocolate yourself without using a powder. Honestly I think you come out with relatively the same results though. I found the decorating takes the most time and quite frankly is the bit I enjoy the most haha.

If you make a festive hot chocolate anytime soon make sure to send me a picture! Tag me on instagram at @alice_tilly or tweet me it on twitter @_alicetilly.

Tanya Burr Cosmetics Lipstick Review #14

When Tanya Burr released more lipsticks to her cosmetics range I knew I needed to get my hand on them. I absolutely loved the matte lips she released which I reviewed back here. I got my hands on two of the lipsticks and I've been wearing them a lot ever since I purchased them. I thought it was only right that I did a review for all of you. To start with the packaging is absolutely gorgeous! The gold used is beautiful and they look a lot more expensive than they actually are. I was super impressed with these. I purchased two colour 'Pink Cocoa' and 'Big Kiss. I've included some swatches of the products below.

(L-R Big Kiss, Pink Cocoa)

The colour's of these products are absolutely gorgeous! 'Big Kiss' for me is a very autumnal colour. It's a darker red with a more pinky undertone. I absolutely loved it throughout Autumn and found it to be my go-to. 'Pink Cocoa' is just an all round amazing lipstick. It's a perfect colour for everyday look. I quite often where this if I want something really natural looking to throw on. Especially if I'm going to work. It's a sort of dusky natural pink that you could match with any outfit.

As for the product themselves I've been super impressed for the price! They are super pigmented and not patchy at all. The application is very smooth and very easy. I haven't had to use a lip liner underneath once. They are very creamy and don't dry your lips at all throughout the day. The only thing about them being very creamy is for me they start to fade midway through the day. I find I only usually have to apply the lipsticks maybe a couple of times in the day again if that. Overall I would 10/10 recommend these lipsticks.

You can buy them HERE at Superdrug.

I really hoped you enjoyed this post. Let me know if you've tried any of the Tanya Burr Cosmetics products and what you thought of them in the comments!

You Can Vote For Me! #13

So if you'd of asked me last year or even a couple of months ago if I'd ever be writing this post I would've told you to stop being so silly. I never ever in a million years thought I would get so involved and enjoy blogging this much. If you didn't know the background I've owned goodness knows how many blogs before and never ever stuck to it. I've always just forgotten or not bothered to make the time. For some reason there's something different with Alice-Tilly I can't imagine not blogging on here at all.

It's been an absolutely crazy few months and a lot of hard work since April when all of this started. Who knew one trip to Brighton would kick start all of this?! I certainly didn't. I couldn't be more grateful for all the support I've received so far from all of you. You don't realise how much you make me smile when your read, comment, tweet me... You make me the happiest girl alive. I can't believe my blogs had over 26k views.... I mean that's crazy! I never even thought 10 people would look at it back when I started. I'm honestly having the time of my life.

Which is why I wanted to share this with you. I've been nominated and entered into the UK Blog Awards 2017 in the 'Fashion & Beauty' category... What even?! I can't begin to get my head around it. Thank you to the people that nominated me I couldn't appreciate it more.

We are now on the the public vote where it's all down to you... Yes you haha. If you have one minute of your time to spare please go and vote for Alice-Tilly. I'll provide the link below all you need to do is click the link and it'll take you to where you can vote!

Thank you all so much everyone,

The Christmas Tag #9

So I thought it was about time I got round to doing the Christmas tag. This is my blogs first Christmas so to speak or type technically haha. I hope you enjoy getting to know more about what I love at Christmas!

1. What is your favourite Christmas movie/s?

I mentioned this before but I'm not all that in to Christmas movies. I don't know why but I never really bother to watch them not even the classics. The only film I could say would be 'Love Actually' but I tend to watch that all year round haha. I much prefer the Christmas TV specials that come on TV.

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

Definitely Christmas morning! I've always very strictly gone by the rule that I can't open any presents before Christmas day. I used to hate when people said open your present now and I'm like no it'll wait to Christmas. I guess I've got good patience haha.

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

I can't think of a specific Christmas memory to be honest. I always find that I have a favourite memory from every Christmas and I don't ten to keep track. Every Christmas just feels special to me.

4. Favourite festive food?

Ohhh how am I mean to pick a favourite festive food?! I mean Christmas Pudding is one of my all time favourites but how can I forget the sweet treats such as Terry's Chocolate Orange or After Eight Mints haha.

5. Favourite Christmas gift?

I don;t think I've ever really had a stand out Christmas gift really. Not saying I hated everything I got I mean I liked everything so much I've never really had a favourite. Plus I've had nearly twenty Christmases in my life and I can't really remember what I got for Christmas either haha.

6. Favourite Christmas scent?

My favourite Christmas scent is hands down Cinnamon or Gingerbread. It reminds me of when I used to bake gingerbread when I was a child at Christmas time. As soon as I smell either it makes me feel so happy and festive.

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

Yes! Me and my little brothers like to track Santa in the evening we always have done since they were small. Last year we had a takeaway as well which I think we're doing again this year as well. I always stay up until around 11/11:30pm on Christmas Eve. No doubt the Gavin & Stacey Christmas Special has been played... Every year we watch it!  When my brothers have gone to bed around 10pm I organise all the presents into piles around are living room.

8. What tops your tree?

Depending on what tree we're talking about because we have about 5 in my house haha. It's usually either a star or an angel. The classic Christmas tree topper really.

9. As a kid what was the one most (crazy, wild, extravagant) you asked for but never received?

I can't really think apart from I used to ask for basically everything in the toy catalogues we used to get I don't know. I mean I'm pretty sure I probably asked for something crazy at some stage. It was probably some sort of doll! I used to want the really expensive ones that talked and everything aha.

10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?

All of it apart from the end! I love everything about Christmas. I love getting to spend quality time with the family really. That's probably the best part really it's nice to spend a whole evening with everyone in the same room.

I've finally answered all the questions!

I love Christmas so much I swear I could've of written a whole essay for some of the questions but I had to shorten it down for all your sakes haha.

I tag everyone that hasn't already done The Christmas Tag to have a go! If you do make sure to link me your post on Twitter or leave it in the comment and I'll make sure to share it!

I Made A Gingerbread House! #8

I've been so excited for this post to come! I've always wanted to make a gingerbread but never had the time to make one or a reason. This year I decided was the year I dedicated a whole day to making one haha... Totally worth it!

I bought a mould to make the house from Lakeland. I'll link the product at the end of the post. Honestly it's totally worth the buy! It's so easy to use and it makes it super easy to make also. I thought I was going to have real trouble making it but it was really easy. The mould itself was not all that expensive either I was really impressed. All the instructions and recipe are included with product. However I'll leave the list of ingredients you'll need below for you in case you want to buy the ingredients before the mould.

- 200g Butter
- 135g Brown Sugar
- 295g Golden Syrup
- 560g Plain Flour
- 3/4 tsp of Bicarbonate of Soda
- 2tsp Ground Ginger

To buy the Santa's Workshop gingerbread house mould follow the link below!

I really hoped you enjoyed this post! It's sort of been a mix between a review and a baking post haha. Let me know if you want me to review any baking products or test any recipes I'd be happy to try them.
