Banoffee Pie

I have never had Banoffee Pie! It never ever really appealed to me to be honest. I saw a picture of one on pinterest when looking at baking ideas. I decided that I had to give it a go. This is hand down one of the easiest things I've ever made. I'm pretty sure anyone could do it even with very limited baking skills. So here's the recipe for the one that made; I hope you enjoy!

22 Chocolate Hobnobs
150g/5oz Butter
1 Tin (397g) Carnation Caramel
400ml Double Cream
3 Bananas
Small Amount Of Grated Chocolate

1. Crush up Hobnobs with a rolling pin etc.

2. Melt the butter and then add crumbled Hobnobs and stir.

3. When stirred pour the Hobnob and butter mixture into a flan dish.

(TIP: Push down on the mixture with a metal spoon to the bottom of the dish to make sure its compacted in the bottom.)

4. Transfer the Banoffee Pie base to the fridge to cool for 30 minutes.

5. After 30 minutes take the base out of the fridge. Pour the tin of Carnation Caramel on top of the base. Smooth out with the back of a metal spoon.

6. Place back in the fridge to cool for a further 30 minutes.

7. After 30 minutes take out of the fridge. Cut bananas into thin slices and place on top of the caramel.

8. Whip cream with an electric whisk and then place on top of the banana.

9. Then add grated chocolate on top of the cream.

Please let me know if you have a go at this recipe. Feel free to send me or tag me in pictures on instagram or twitter! Let me know if there's any other recipes that you'd like me to try in the comments.

Malteser Brownies

So I'm really into doing a bit of baking at the moment. I think the Great British Bake Off has got me in the spirit to try some new recipes. I absolutely love chocolate and there is no denying it. However I rarely ever eat it and I am being truthful! So for a treat I decided to indulge myself with the Maltese Brownies. So I thought I'd include the recipe so all of you could have a go too!

150g/5oz Butter
140g/4oz Milk Chocolate
200g/7oz Caster Sugar
60g/2oz Plain Flour
2tbsp Cocoa Powder
2 Eggs
150g/5oz Maltesers

1. Pre-heat the oven to 190C/170C fan/gas mark 5.

2. Melt the butter and milk chocolate together in a saucepan until smooth on a low heat while stirring.

3. Remove saucepan off heat when done and then leave to cool.

4. In a new bowl stir together both eggs and the caster sugar together.

5. Then add both the flour and cocoa powder to the bowl.

6. After all ingredients are mixed in the bowl add the cooled contents of the saucepan and stir together.

7. Chop the Maltesers in half and add to the brownie mixture.

8. Grease and line a cake tin then for the mixture inside.

9. Bake for 20/25 minutes.

(TIP: brownies will be firm on the top if cooked or if unable to tell use a skewer to put into cake tin. If it comes out clear then your brownies are cooked.)

10. When removed from oven cool completely before cutting into squares.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I have! It was a great treat for myself. They are honestly so yummy. If you give these a go please let me know and send me or tag me in a picture on twitter or instagram.

Hope you enjoyed this post,

Tips For Getting More Organised

Ok so I have to admit before I start this... I was maybe I still am the most unorganised person ever! Organising myself really has never been my strong point I always without fail leave everything I need to do to the last minute. Whether it be packing to go on holiday or work I need to get done. However I'm great at organising everyone else! Please tell me I'm not the only one who's like this? haha. I think I may just be the tad bit bossy but hopefully it doesn't bother anyone!

The month however I've been devoting myself to being more organised. I currently work part-time and blog part-time. I'm also trying to study on top of that as well; between all of that it just felt like I really didn't have enough hours in the day. I realised maybe if I planned a bit better then I may just manage to balance things. So I thought I'd share some tips with you about how to get more organised!

1. Get yourself a planner! It sounds so silly that getting a planner has been one of the best thing I've ever done. I recently purchased a 17 month planner and I love it so so much. I've used it to plan everything I'm doing each day. I've listed all the events I have coming up with their location and time; so I have no last minute panic right before I leave. Planning my blog content has already become a lot easier as well.

2. Do not put a TV show in the background when you know you need to get work done. I do this all the time and I end up forgetting what I'm meant to be doing. I start paying more attention to the TV than I do to any work I've got work. So when I sit at my desk now I never turn my TV because I know how much it distracts me. I now opt to listen to music when I work which I finds helps me stay motivated and productive.

3. Make daily to-do lists. This has been a huge help for me personally. It's so much easier to plan my time in the day when I know exactly what I need to get done. I've been using a white board on my bedroom wall. I write my to-do list at night for the next day. Then every time I've done something on my list I can just wipe it off.

4. Make sure your work space is clean and tidy! Did I mention I'm always messy? I can never keep anything tidy as hard as I try. Everything seems to just end up anywhere and everywhere! I make sure I tidy my desk after I've used it in the day; so when I get up the next morning it's tidy. I've made sure to organise everything on there so everything has a place... I can't guarantee how long it will stay there though. This has helped me though! I get less stressed when I've got space on my desk and I know where everything is.

So here's a few things that might help you get a bit more organised if you're like me! They're pretty simple things that I've quite easily adapted to. Let me know in the comments if you've written a blog post in getting more organised or feel free to leave some more tips! Honestly I need all the help I can get haha.

I hope you enjoyed this post,

Top 5 TV Shows I'm Loving

I watch a lot of TV and by a lot I mean probably too much! I just get a lot of enjoyment getting really invested in a shows story or one of their characters. If I don't watch it over and over again then I haven't enjoyed a TV show that much. These are 5 in particular that I've been loving and/or re-watching to death recently.

1. Casualty

Okay so 1. & 2. of my top 5 are closely related considering they are sister shows. There are completely different reasons why I love them both though. To clear the air though if you didn't know I'm in love with medical dramas. Actually any TV show involving anything medical really. I know it sounds weird but I guess it just really interests me personally. Now I know medical shows aren't everyone's cup of tea and if you're squeamish etc. they I definitely wouldn't give these a watch.

I'm pretty sure my love for Casualty stemmed from a very young age. I'm being very serious my mum used to sit me down to watch it as a young child. I seriously used to hate it! Look how things change though I've watched all 30 series and I'm up to date with series 31. That's a lot of hours of my life I've spent watching Casualty. They were totally worth it though! If you're looking for a continuing drama to watch definitely give this one a go. Although I get incredibly frustrated with the story lines at times I wouldn't have it any other way. They cover some really important topics.

If you're thinking about checking it out some of my favourite series are Series 22, 25, 26 and 30. Current character that are my particular favourites are Ethan Hardy played by George Rainsford. His character is seriously so cute not really much else to say I just actually love him! If you haven't heard of Charlie Fairhead played by Derek Thompson then go google him now or watch some scenes on YouTube he's been in it since day one and is literally the heart of the show. Plus Connie Beauchamp played by the AMAZING Amanda Mealing. She is one of the best actresses and one of my biggest inspirations! Definitely go check out some of her work.

Some of my favourite story lines have been the recent Huntington's Disease story line. It really helped to raise awareness of Huntington's Disease. The acting was beyond amazing! It also really inspired everyone to raise money to help people affected by the disease which was brilliant! Another story line I particularly loved was Ruth Winters (played by the lovely Georgia Taylor) battle with mental illness. I find some shows tend to sugar coat mental illnesses and brush past them. This story line however was played out amazingly!

2. Holby City

Also another medical drama... I know! Hear me out on this one too though. I actually only recently started watching Holby City. I never really bothered with it before but I watched an episode about a year ago and now I watch it every week without fail.

I have gone back and watched a lot of the old series also. I told you I do watch too much TV. It's basically a lot like Casualty however it's a different part to the hospital so it works in a completely different way. Both are really interesting.

Favourite Series are the previous series 17 and the current series 18 which is on TV now. A favourite past character that has recently gone out of the show was Arthur Digby played by Rob Ostlere. A heartbreaking and very well played out cancer story line something very close to my heart. It had me sobbing into my pillow for days!

Current story line I'm absolutely loving is about the relationship between Serena Campbell (plated by Catherine Russell) & Bernie Wolfe (Played by Jemma Redgrave). It makes me so happy that one of my favourite shows has LGBTQ+ representation. It's so refreshing for a show to have a story line about it being ok to explore your sexuality and to be confused about your sexuality at any age. It's great that they're showing that it's ok to not know what you want and that you don't have to label yourself anything. It's being played out so amazing by both actresses and I'm totally invested in the story line!

3. Stranger Things

If you haven't heard of Stranger Things then go and get yourself on Netflix now because it seriously is great. I'd seen a lot of speculation of the show everyone was saying that it was amazing. I really wasn't sure if I was going to bother watching it to be honest. One day when I had nothing to do I decided to give it a go and how glad I was. I'm not going to lie the first few episodes I wasn't 100% sure but the further I got into I was so invested in it.

It's an original Netflix series; it's sort of a supernatural/horror show. I'm in love with horror shows! Another weird thing about me I suppose I like scary films/programmes. I found that this was wasn't scary at all I could happily watch it before bed. I have seen some people saying they couldn't sleep after they watched it though! So if your easily scared I advise maybe not to watch it in the dark, before bed or when your home alone haha.

4. Pretty Little Liars

I LOVE PRETTY LITTLE LIARS. I've said and I've declared my love for it a million times. I was a little late on the bandwagon I'm not going to lie. I think I started watching when season 5 was on. I literally had to watch it 24 hours a day for like over a week to catch up but I finally got up to date. I know your thinking "Oh it's so overrated" or "I've tried watching it and I don't like it". Trust me it took me a few episodes before I really got into it but now it's my go-to show!

I think if you love programmes where you like to look for clues and work things out then it's definitely for you. I'm one of those people who likes to guess the plot line so this was definitely a show for me. The only thing is you have to pay attention. It's not one of those shows you can have on in the background while you do something else. You really have to pay attention or honestly you are going to get really confused.

The story lines have been questionable at times but for the most part I've thoroughly enjoyed it. My favourite Pretty Little Liar is Spencer I think it's probably because I have most in common with her character.  I've heard a lot of people say the books are better but personally I've never read them. The only think I can can go by is the show which I love! Definitely recommend it you go check it out if you haven't yet!

5. Gavin & Stacey

A total classic and feel good TV show. No matter how much I watch it Gavin & Stacey will never get old for me. I'm not actually joking I've watched it so many times I can talk with the actors/actresses while the episodes are on. Plus I quote it all the time! If you've never heard of it or never watched it I seriously don't know where you've been. If this is the case get off this blog post now and on to Netflix to watch it haha.

The show seriously puts a huge smile on my face. I don't really want to say much because I don't obviously want to give the story away but it is based on a true story. It's absolutely hilarious and I could watch it all day everyday. Especially the Christmas special which is my all time favourite episode. It also stars James Corden and anything with James Corden in I'm there because he makes me laugh so much!

Please go watch it and then we can have a good old conversation about how good it is! Or if you've already  watched it let me know what you think of it in the comments!

So this post went on way longer than I expected and I practically turned it into an essay! I guess I'm just very passionate about my TV programmes haha. Let me know any shows that you're loving at the moment because honestly I do need new shows to watch.

I hope you enjoyed this post,

ASOS Autumn/Winter Wishlist

 (Top Row, L-R 1-3, Middle Row L-R 4-6, Bottom Row L-R 7-9)

I get so unbelievably excited when we get to around September time because it means all the autumn/winter clothes start to appear in the shops and online. I will hands down say I prefer autumn/winter fashion than I do spring/summer. It's just a lot more me! I prefer big chunky knit jumpers opposed to crop tops and shorts.

Although I'm trying to save money (which realistically is never going to happen with me) I managed to find myself browsing on ASOS looking to update my wardrobe for the new season. I picked a few things that I absolutely loved and will definitely be adding as staples to my autumn/winter wardrobe.

1. ASOS Ridley High Waist Skinny Jeans in Clean Black, £25, might sound like a boring purchase but to me it's really not! I don't own one pair of jeans and I never have. I really hated denim growing up I found it unbelievably uncomfortable. This autumn/winter however I'm determined to get myself in a pair of jeans and love them. Black high waist skinny jeans seem to be just a go to really. You can dress them up or you can dress them down. They're pretty multi-purpose which is perfect for me.

2. Boohoo Pleated Pinafore Dress, £20, hands down my favourite item out of this whole wishlist. I LOVE IT! I just think it's so so cute and reminds me of how I used to dress when I was little haha. I can just imagine pairing this with a white long sleeve polo neck top and a pair of woolly white tights. Perfect for a cold winters day!

3. Native Youth Tencel Utility Shirt, £40, this is basically a simple white shirt. I love to lounge around in them through autumn particularly. They're so versatile and pretty much go with anything. I'm definitely thinking about pairing it with the khaki green trousers I've included in this wishlist with some cute chelsea boots.

4. Boohoo Twill Pinafore Dress, £20, clearly I have a thing for khaki this autumn/winter. I just feel like it's a colour I seem to be reaching for this season. I love pinafore dresses and I like how this is more of a body-con one. Considering most of the clothes I own are black this will go perfect with a lot of my wardrobe.

5. ASOS Oversized Cropped Sweatshirt, £14, this is perfect for my lazy days where I want to lounge around and watch Netflix. Unfortunately my lazy days seem to happen more than they probably should... oops. This'll be perfect to wear around the house teamed with a pair of black leggings.

6. French Connection Platform Felt Coat, £176, ok so I have a coat obsession and I'm not joking. I feel the need to buy about 10 coats every time the sun goes in and it gets the slightest bit cold. Which happens a lot in the UK as you can imagine! I've limited myself to 3 coats this year and nothing more. I'm loving beige coats! I think they go with so much and look really sophisticated. I love the collar on this coat and how it crosses over at the front. Although maybe on the pricier side of coats the quality matches the price so you can't really complain.

7. ASOS Ultimate Chunky Jumper With High Neck, £25, how cosy does this look? I quite often go on early morning walks! Partly because I'm an early bird and plus I always walk to work. This will be perfect for me to just throw over a t-shirt or my work uniform in the morning. There is something I love about quiet walks to clear my head before the day ahead. I can't wait to do it in this jumper.

8. River Island Swing Coat With Removable Faux Fur Collar, £65, I fell in love with this coat as soon as I saw it. I knew that I needed this in my wardrobe. It's such a gorgeous colour and the shape is so flattering. I also love that the faux fur collar is removable as well. I like when there is an option with collars and hood on coats. I can't wait for it to get cold enough for me to wear this out.

9. ASOS Skinny Trousers With Seam Detail And Zips, £25, again with the khaki colour again I'm sorry haha. I just love the look of these trousers though. They look really fashionable yet comfortable at the same time. I'll definitely be pairing these with my trusty leather jacket.

I hope you enjoyed this post about what I'm loving and wishing for from ASOS this autumn/winter. Let me know what you've been loving or if this post has given you any inspiration in the comments.

Top 6 Songs I'm Loving

So I listen to music 24/7! I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not but I can't get through a day without listening to it. It doesn't matter what music I listen to from One Direction to The Beatles to listening to West End musical soundtracks... I love it all! So I thought I'd share with you the songs I have on repeat at the moment.

1. Eyes Shut by Years & Years, I think maybe I'm a little late to this song? I feel like everyone was already listening to it months ago! I personally wasn't a huge fan of Years & Years when they first came onto the music scene but honestly after seeing them sing live they've really grown on me. The more I found out about them the more I loved them. Eyes Shut is definitely my favourite song off of the album Communion. This is basically my chill out song at the moment. It goes on as soon as I'm feeling the tiniest bit stressed which has felt like a lot recently!

2. Weightless by Layla, I first heard this song on an advert for the new TV series of 'Our Girl' (A show that you should definitely go watch if you haven't yet!). I instantly fell in love with this song and searched lyrics online to find out what it was. I'd never heard of the artist before but have since listened to some of her songs and I'm so glad I found her. I literally have had this song on repeat for days!

3. Wild Horses by Birdy, Birdy is so unbelievably talented so much that it literally blows me away. I'd absolutely love to see her sing live one day! This is also the current song I love to sing at the moment. If you didn't know I absolutely love singing I've grown up singing/acting/dancing. So there's one thing you didn't know about me until now haha.

4. That's My Girl by Fifth Harmony, YES this song is the key to girl power! Every time I listen to this song I feel like the sassiest girl around. It's my motivational song at the moment. Whether I'm trying to get work done or out for run this is the song I'm playing. I do warn you though this song is so catchy once you've learnt the lyrics it'll be in your head for days haha.

5. The Greatest by Sia, I'm slightly biased when it comes to Sia because I absolutely love her! I love everything she has ever done. She really fascinates me without that sounding odd! I was so excited to see Sia had released a new song I immediately had to listen to it. Originally not going to lie I wasn't actually too fussed. Then I watched the music video and my opinion completely changed on this song. If you've never heard this song go and watch the music video. It gives me conflicting emotions and I'm not really sure what I make of it but that's kind of what I like. It's haunting, beautiful and intriguing all at the same time.

6. Strong by London Grammar, This isn't really a new song to me I first listened to it back when it came out in 2103. Ever since then it always seems to find it's way back into my favourites/currents playlist. This song just really is beautiful... everything about it! This is the song I listen to if I'm feeling panicked and need to calm down. Unfortunately the panicking happens more than I'd like to admit but this song has been a really big help to me. Also this song tends to make an appearance when I've got some thinking to do; it's a really good song for that!

I hope you enjoyed this random ramble of a post! I just really wanted to share these amazing songs with you all. Let me know in the comments what songs you're loving at the moment. I love to be introduced to new artists/songs etc.

Zoella Secret Scenta Mini Mist Set Review

So I recently purchased the 'Zoella Secret Scenta Mini Mist Set' from Superdrug. I've been eyeing it up ever since Zoe did her video on her new Christmas range. This was definitely something I really wanted because I'm actually obsessed with the body mists. I own a bottle of all of the previous body mists already but needed to get my hands on the new Christmas mist. I decided to get this mini set because I thought they'd be so much more practical to carry around with me on a daily basis in my bag.

I'm absolutely in the love with the packaging and the bottles. Is it weird to say I love the lids? I just love the metallic look if you know what I mean. Appearance-wise I think the classic 'Blissful Mistful' is my favourite.

Going into the actual product these aren't perfumes therefore they don't last all day long. If you want the scent on you all day then you will have to top up a couple of times throughout the day. This personally doesn't bother at all! Plus I tend to reach for body mists over perfumes as I think sometimes perfumes are quite overpowering. I hope it's not only me that gets headaches from perfumes too?

Starting with 'Blissful Mistful' which was the first body mist to be released. It's a real lovely and fresh floral smell which I really really like. It's not too overpoweringly strong. This is one of the scents I wear on a daily basis. I think it's one I'd more reach for in the spring/summer rather than autumn/winter however.

'Lets Spritz' is more of a fruity fragrance with tones of raspberry and cassis.  This was the one I honestly thought I wouldn't like. I'm really not fussed on the fruity smells and especially raspberry. Purely because if you didn't know I absolutely hate raspberry and they actually make me sick. I have no idea why it's just a smell and taste I've never been able to take to. I already own the big bottle of this mist; I was sceptical about buying it but thought I'd give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised that it really doesn't smell all that much like raspberry's to me. I actually do like the scent. It's probably my least favourite but I have been using it from time to time. I think it would be a really lovely spring/summer fruity scent for any fruit lovers though!

My absolute favourite is 'Sweet Inspirations'. Hands down my go-to body mist and I literally wear it most days. I originally bought a big bottle when it came out and used about 3/4 in two weeks. Yes that is seriously how much I've been using it. If you love almond/vanilla scent then this is for you! I love scents like this and think they are perfect to wear all year round which I will be. I'd say if you wanted to try one of the four scents out then definitely go with this one. It smells so nice that I find myself spraying myself way too much on myself but who cares when you can smell like a macaroon, am I right? haha.

Last but not least the latest body mist 'Bake My Day'. Literally how cute is the name of this mist! Now this scent is basically Christmas and I'm not joking. It is like Christmas has been squeezed into a bottle and made into a scent. For any Christmas lover this is definitely the scent for you. To me it's kind of a mix of gingerbread, vanilla and cinnamon. All three of those smells are my absolute favourites. I'm going to be wearing this constantly from now on until Christmas. I'm already in the Christmas spirit and I'd be lying if I said I haven't had my Christmas spotify playlist on... Not long to go now!

This set cost £16 which works out £4 per each 15ml bottle of body mist. I think this is really affordable and would be a great gift for someone of any age. I love the Zoella Beauty collection. Everything is such good quality and to me is all priced affordably.

I really hope you enjoyed this post,

Why I Started Blogging?

So if you've visited my little space of the internet before you'll realise that there's been some changes to Alice-Tilly. I think they've been a long time coming really. I feel like my blog is a part of me and I think recently I've changed and grown as a person. Therefore low and behold my blog has too.

We've got a new look and a new outlook on life... One that's definitely more positive. My last post was about how I didn't know what I was doing. I read back on it and just realised I don't need to know everything else. I love my blog and I love where I'm going with it. Nothing else really matters to me.

So I'm becoming more organised and throwing all of my time and effort into my blog. I know you're laughing if you know me about me being organised but I'm serious! This is what I love and what I want to do. It's pretty much that simple actually I don't know why I always feel the need to complicate my own life.

When I go back to thinking why I started this blog it was a little random really. Back in April I decided I was finally going to make the trip down to Brighton. Something I'd always wanted to do and somewhere I always wanted to visit. From planning the trip I decided that I was going to start a blog and I would make my first post my visit to Brighton. I took my Nikon D3200 and practically spent the whole time I was there getting in people's way trying to get the perfect photo.

I couldn't be more glad that I decided to randomly make a blog that day. This blog really is a part of me it holds my passions and personality... Everything that I just truly love.

Social media has always been a big impact on why I started a blog as well. I've always enjoyed using social media in specific twitter. Where back in the day I used to obsessively tweet about One Direction... Yes you see that explains my twitter username. I guess I'm still too attached to it to change it! I really enjoy connecting with other people sharing new ideas. I mean you don;t get to share much with 140 characters though do you? So this is an extension of everything really. Social media is how discovered the art of blogging really. Through twitter I discovered people like the likes of Zoe Sugg & Tanya Burr that have inspired me to do what I do today. I do owe that to social media!

My blog allows me to write about things I'm really passionate about. Whether that be beauty, fashion or lifestyle. I've always been really passionate about these subjects and about writing in general. I always hid my passion growing up through school etc. thinking no one would take me seriously. Well now I have nothing to lose and I'm going to full on embrace it.

Alice-Tilly is completely mine and I get 100% creative freedom over it. It really is so empowering! This blog is helping me grow as a person. It's like I said it's a part of me. My blog allows the freedom to self-explore; to try things I might never of before. It's definitely boosted my confidence and self-esteem a lot. I've met some amazing people through my blog and had some amazing opportunities as well. Things I never would of dreamt I would be doing actually I don't think a lot of people thought I'd be doing anything like this. I'm proving them wrong I guess.

This is just an insight really into why I started my blog. If you;re considering starting one then I say definitely go for it! What have you got to lose? Nothing right but you've got everything to gain if you give it a go. Hey, it might turn into something amazing you never know!

Anyway I hope you enjoyed my first post with me being well and truly back! I'd love to know some of the reasons you started blogging or if you're considering starting a blog. Let me know in the comments!
