Who Inspires Me

Having people who inspire you in life is so important. The people that inspire you I find take such a special place in your life. I feel like this post is a sort of thank you to all of the people for constantly inspiring me over the years. I want to be able to look back at this post next year and the year after and keep adding people to my list. To give them the recognition they deserve because I truly would not be the person I am today without any of them. They helped shape who I am today and I will always be very grateful of that fact. Here's to all of these amazing people:

Tyler Oakley

Jemma Redgrave

Chris Colfer

Amanda Mealing

Catherine Russell

Emmeline Pankhurst

Zoe Sugg

Darren Criss

Perrie Edwards

Rosa Parks

Victoria Magrath

Nelson Mandela

Michelle Obama

Emma Watson

This post is full of different people with completely different careers and backgrounds. All have inspired me at some point in my life. Please go and research any of these people if you don't know who they are... Hey they might inspire you like they have me too. Whether it be how proactive you are to how you style your clothing!

I hope you don't mind that this post is a little bit shorter than usual but it felt really super important for me to share this with everyone. I would absolutely love to know in the comments who has inspired you in your life as well.

Are We Being Discouraged To Pursue Creative Subjects?

This is the first post where I've really discussed any topics/issues that I'm interested in or am currently questioning. This post has been a long time coming I feel. I just want to quickly point out this is all my opinion and experience. I'm really not looking for an argument or a fight.... I want to hear others opinions on the subject but in a civil way. I'm really excited to discuss what you all feel and whether you agree or disagree with me.

Todays topic is "Are We Being Discouraged To Pursue Creative Subjects?". Personally I'm talking about choosing GCSE's, A Levels and a Degree subject. I feel that it's really important to have this discussion as to whether others have felt like they are being discouraged from picking or taking the more "creative subjects". Creative subjects including, Art, Photography, Design & Technology, Music, Drama etc.

I went to a state school just across the road from where I was living. I experienced the feeling of being discouraged from taking more creative subjects at both GCSE, A level and when choosing a degree. I took Art and Design & Technology: Graphics for both GCSE and A Level. In my school I feel like creative subjects were completely pushed to the bottom of the pile. Less funding, less lessons and in general staff had less interest in. I feel like when taking my options there was so much information about taking the sciences and focusing on maths and english... yet very little information or encouragement was given for things such as Art, Photography, Music etc.

There's very much still a stigma around people who pursue creative subjects. I feel like the creative subjects are very much still very gendered. I feel like males are discouraged in general to take creative subjects as in society it's always been seen as female subjects. Total load of shit obviously but I think it's a common case for males to feel of scared of what people will think if they take a creative subject. I feel like school's and the education system should try harder to de-gender all school subjects. Make pupils to feel safe and happy picking and pursuing whatever subjects they feel comfortable in.

"If you take a creative subject you're not intellectual or smart". If I earned a pound for the amount of times I've heard someone say this to me or someone else I swear I'd be a millionaire right now. This is in no way the case at all! I know so many people who enjoyed and had an absolute passion for art but could also ace their way through a Biology exam. I feel like I was judged a lot by others peers and teachers that because I had taken art I was branded "stupid" or "less intelligent" which I in no way shape or form am.

I feel like the government and education system really instills in you that you're are going to be held back and there aren't any jobs available in the creative sector which is quite frankly simply untrue. It's in no way going to hold you back in regards to career opportunities. You can thrive whether you've studied Biology, Mechanics or Photography!

There's all the more proof that children are being discouraged from pursuing creative subjects. The number of students that sat Design & Technology exam dropped by 10% from 2015 to 2016. The same with students who sat an exam for Art & Design dropped by a whopping 26% in one year. The drop of students studying these subjects actually could have a significant affect on creative career posts not being filled due to less people with the right knowledge and skills to fill the positions. I'm nervous for the future of the creative industry and I shouldn't have to feel this way and neither should you.

I want students to feel supported and encouraged to take creative subjects if that's the path they want to choose. No one should be able to discourage or tell you what direction you should take your life in. I'm in no way saying pick creative subjects over sciences or maths... Hey, if those are the subjects that make you happy you go ahead and take them! All subjects hold skills for careers in the future and are all just as important as each other.

I'd love to hear your opinion on this question! If you've had the same sort of experience as I have or a completely different one. Also I'd love to hear what you think if you personally didn't take any creative subjects yourself. I hope you've enjoyed my first topic post of 2017. I can't wait to begin writing more and sharing my opinions with you.

Top Liquid Lipsticks Of 2016

I've recently started to clear out all of my make-up; I thought with it being the new year it was the perfect time to start sorting everything. I'm going to be moving it all into new storage because my current storage is bulging! I'm not sure how I've managed to acquire quite that amount of make-up over the last few months... But oh well haha!

I noticed when clearing up my make-up collection I have quite the large variety of liquid lipsticks. I mean so large I think I have a problem haha. I absolutely love liquid lipsticks and they are absolutely always my go to. I thought I'd share with you my top liquid lipstick picks from last year. These are the lipsticks I've literally worn out and worn daily because I love them so much. So without further ado here are my top liquid lipsticks of 2016:

Tanya Burr Cosmetics Matte Lip in Martha Moo
This is is my top pick out of all the liquid lipsticks I've mentioned. I absolutely love the formula and the pigmentation is great. Plus it smells like marshmallows! It literally lasts all day without me having to top the colour up. It's just the perfect everyday shade for me! Tanya Burr cosmetics hands down topped it for me this year on the liquid lipstick front.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Liquid Lipstick in Grand Cru
I own a few of the Bourjois liquid lipsticks and I think they were the first brand I ever bought a liquid lipstick from. The formula is really great and not drying at all which I love especially. They are really easy to apply and the colour lasts a long day. I don't usually find myself having to top this colour up. It's such a gorgeous red with a pink undertone.

Colour Pop Ultra Matte Lip in Avenue
My go to red from the Colour Pop liquid lipsticks. I loved this colour in the summer even if it is a darker red. I still like to rock the dark lips in the summer haha. I found that this colour looked perfect with a tan. I do find with Colour Pop sometimes they can be quite drying so it's really up to you to try them if you have dry lips. They are super long lasting though! I find the applicators in the tubes one of the best. It makes application a lot easier and precise in my opinion.

Colour Pop Ultra Matte Lip in Tulle
This was my ultimate winter colour for 2016. I wore it pretty much every chance I got from October to December haha. Such a gorgeous purple tones lipstick I absolutely love it! If you're into a dark lip look definitely check this one out. Colour Pop as I mentioned above do some of the best liquid lipsticks around and so if you've never tried them give them a go. I know if you're from the UK shipping can be expensive... But trust me it's totally worth it!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Budapest
I saw so many people last year bang on about the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams and I thought why not give them a go! Ever since I've bought my first one I've been growing a bit of a collection haha. This is one is my favourite of what I own so far. I love the names of all of the lip creams... Well done NYX on that one! The formula is like no other liquid lipstick I've ever tries and by far my favourite formula. It glides and applies so easy on the lips they fell really nice. The only downside is these aren't very long lasting and you will have to top up the colour throughout the day. However ultimately this doesn't bother me too much.

I really hope you enjoyed this post! Definitely go and check out all the products I mentioned if you're as obsessed with liquid lipsticks as I am haha. If you have any recommendations for me leave them in the comments for me try this year.

2017 Goals

So I touched back in my last post about how I wasn't making any New Years resolutions this year. I quite honestly find them pointless. Don't get me wrong setting resolutions may work for many people but I can honestly say I've never stuck to my resolutions. I feel like using the word goals and making goals is different to a resolution. I feel like these can be set but they don't always have to be reached. I feel like there is always room for goals to change throughout the year because quite honestly you never quite know what's going to happen!

I thought I'd give you a little insight into the goals that I have currently for this year. I'm sure that they'll change throughout this year... Hey probably even this month! Here are my goals for 2017:

1. Smile more, this one's pretty simple and I quite honestly think I smile more than most people anyway. I've always been a smiley person and I just want to smile more and spread the happiness with everyone else!

2. Explore more & have more adventures, I'm already onto this goal already! I want to explore more of the country I live in. I find it so strange I haven't actually visited more places in the UK so I'm making a list of great places I want to go to this year.

3. Start eating regular meals, I'm really naughty with eating meals... Oops. I never eat breakfast and quite honestly tend to skip lunch quite often within a week. I know this is definitely not healthy for me and I need to start making more effort to eat regularly.

4. Go to more events, I really would like to go to more blogging events this year definitely! I'd love to meet as many bloggers this year as I possibly can. I would also like to go to more concerts, theatre shows, musicals... etc. I feel like I want to experience new things that I haven't seen before.

5. Start exercising regularly again, I did get into the habit of a regular exercise last year and I went though a bad patch. I honestly didn't feel like I had the energy to do it. Now however I find myself missing it and I want to feel as fit and as healthy as I did last year.

6. Read more books, I love reading books of all genres and I always have! I found myself becoming more disinterested with it last year and I don't think I finished reading more than one book. This year I want to get my teeth stuck into some new literature.

7. Apply for university for 2018 & get some work experience, I want to go to university next year I'm still deciding whether to study 'Diagnostic Radiography' or 'Operating Department Practice'. I know completely different to the fashion, beauty and lifestyle things I write on here. I've always loved medicine and I'm a huge nerd secretly... Don't tell anyone haha!

8. Dance again, If you don't know me you won't know that I used to dance... It honestly was my life. Unfortunately I suffered a back injury which unfortunately affects me daily. I've never been so heartbroken to be told I couldn't do something I loved so much anymore. My back although can be debilitating and painful at times is a lot stronger. I'm working really hard to make it stronger so that hopefully this year I can finally dance again.

These are my 2017 goals that I can think of so far! I'm sure they'll change and I'll add more goals but hopefully I'll be able to reach a lot of them this year. Let me know in the comments your goals for 2017 I'd love to hear them.

2017 Is Mine

I'm back and 2017 is going to be mine.

2016 has had its fair share of ups and downs suffice to say. However I feel like I really grew into myself I finally feel more "me" than I've ever felt. I feel more alive and happy than I ever have felt before. This is going to be a whole new year of adventure! That's my word for 2017 "adventure". I've decided this year to not have resolutions because they always end up to far fetched to reach. This year all I want to do is explore, have fun... and hey, maybe even be a little selfish. I want this year to be my year I want to do amazing things. I want to go out and see all the things I've always wanted to see. I want to try new things and push myself out of my comfort zone.

I hate the cliché of saying "new year new me" but this year I really do feel like I'm a new person. I'm the person I've always wanted to be. This year I will stand tall and be confident as hell like I know I am. I'll be the loud, bubbly and funny person that I am. I don't know how many times I feel like I'm going to say this year is all about having fun. I want to explore new talents, learn new things... I want to really just find out more about who I am.

My blog has changed and is still changing. I now feel it's an accurate reflection of me and only me. I'm fed up of trying to fit into what a "blogger" is seen as. What I should look like? What I should post? How great my photos?... Guess what I don't care about fitting into that creatively deprived box. I'm stepping out and I don't intend on ever stepping back in it ever. I want to start talking about everything I'm passionate about. The taboo subjects of life, politics, the NHS, the education system and still mix it in with fashion and beauty. Why do I have to limit myself to just one thing? I want to include a new fitness section I want to share my journey of weight loss and becoming more fit. I hope it encourages others to join me too!

They'll be lots more campaigns this year. I was given a voice in this world and intend to use it. I want to help implement change. If we all sit back on our opinions and stay quiet nothings ever going to happen. I want people to join me and help me make changes to society.

I'm so exited to see what this year has to come for me... I really have a feeling it will be the best one yet! I'll make it the best one yet. I can't wait to go more places, meet new people and just be me.

My favourite quite at the moment is "Live for the moments you can't put into words". I can't wait to live all of these moments this year!

I hope you'll continue to follow and support me throughout me journey. You guys mean the world to and I'm not sure what I'd do without all of you.

Here's to 2017!
